The blog HIStalk posted an
interview with Dr. Bill Hersh, professor and chair of biomedical informatics at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. Dr. Hersh talks about the need for more individuals who are formally trained in informatics, some of the opportunities for innovation that the "meaningful use" guidelines might provide, and some of the tensions that arise from physicians doing data entry in CPOE systems.
Dr. Hersh will be a keynote speaker at the 2009 ASCO EHR Symposium in San Francisco, Oct. 6-7.
